ABOUT
IJAW PROJECT— or simply IP—is a digital, innovations, and technology-based collaborative research created to chronicle, document, and archive the social history and cultural heritage of the Ijaw people. With a focus on designing and executing solutions-based programmatic and initiatives, Ijaw Project center on advancing socio-justice initiatives through intersectional examinations of the intellectual and psychosocial interactions of Ijaw peoples both within their immediate Niger Delta environment and globally.
The project seeks, invites, and networks with individuals, organizations, and groups across the world. Framed primarily around autochthonous Ijaw epistemologies, the project aims to build intellectual bridges to facilitate, and indeed to aid, public and global fathoming of the various seeming complexities in thought-ways and manners of meaning productions among the Ijaw people. The project assumes from the aboriginal homes of the Ijaw people. It also extends to any sites that would qualify as Ijaw Diaspora.
MISSION
Ijaw Project equips Ijaw persons with critical and reflexive thinking about purposeful living.
VISION
Every Ijaw person has the potential and right to live and enjoy good life.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN…
The Ijaw Project is a response to the need to motivate, mobilize and synergize Ijaw energy. It is a systematic build-up to consciously and conscientiously represent the Ijaw narratological accounts of socio-cultural, economic and political development in modern-day Nigeria, in the Niger Delta and in the world. This project explores the social, cultural and spiritual dynamics among the Ijaw of the Niger Delta. The Ijaw people are deemed the fourth largest ethnic nation in the world’s most populous black country, despoiled through man-made social and economic violence.
In simple terms, the Ijaw Project (IP) is a technology-driven, ideas, and innovative collaborative platform which networks energetic, passionate minds, especially the Ijaw youths in the diaspora and in the Niger Delta, to create viable and sustainable development projects and initiatives, ultimately with a view to transforming lives at the micro level. VOLUNTEER
AND…
Essentially, the Ijaw Project redials sundials in the historical phases of Ijaw existence, with a view to providing space for engaging emergent possibilities via humane and human-inflected applications of different instruments of data gathering and processing, including information systems and networking technology, social science, and through a combination of critical, coordinated, and cohesive research-based and non-formal conversations.
The project invites the participation of highly skilled individuals who either have the passion for things Ijaw or desire to pursue innovative projects and ideas in technology for social transformations. Interestingly enough, do you know that you can make a huge difference among your own people? In case you do not know, join us today and we will show you how you can bring about true and permanent transformation in your local community. BE A VOICE FOR IJAW PROJECT
THE GREEN HEART PROJECT
A derivative of the variegated form of Ijaw protestations against histories of exploitations, marginalizations, and neglect in the Niger Delta Ijaw people, the Green Heart project drives towards discovery, sustenance, and maximization of human aspirations and potentials especially among persons of Ijaw ancestry, or those interested in its heritage. Persons from all categories of training and backgrounds are welcome. JOIN US.
POVERTY, CORRUPTION, AND VIOLENCE: 3-IN-1 EVIL
A striking characteristic of Ijaw communities is the appalling levels of poverty, matched by wanton disingenuous and inefficient leadership. cies is a defining condition of the Ijaw people in their Ijaw state of Bayelsa. Visits to parts of the state speak volumes about reckless escapist leadership. As available data show, Ijaws are known for indefatigable activism, yet many ask why couldn’t charity begin at home?
